Become a Responsible Global Citizen
As writers, it is important to stay aware of new trends in literature, education and digital communications/publishing. As human beings, we must get involved and stay involved in the affairs of our home on Earth. Like it or not, we are "Global Citizens". It is no longer about nations or religions or race or class; it is about on people, animals & plants, rocks, water, & air. Thus, it is our duty and most important purpose in life to promote harmony and balance, as well as to have some fun, to educate others, and to be responsible to the needs of our environment during our limited sojourn here. Its not a black thing, or a white thing, or a yellow thing, or a brown thing, or a red thing. It is a people thing.
We are all Africans. Essentially, we all hail from the same seed. That's why I like the Internet. On the Internet, the melting pot is a world wide experience. People are doing some fantastic things on the web.

The Internet Public Library recently upgraded itself to become the "ipl2". ipl2 is a public service organization and a learning/teaching environment. Reportedly, thousands of students and volunteer library and information science professionals have been involved in answering reference questions for the Ask an ipl2 Librarian service and in designing, building, creating and maintaining the ipl2's collections. It is through the efforts of these students and volunteers that the ipl2 continues to thrive to this day. In January 2010, the website "ipl2: information you can trust" was launched, merging the collections of resources from the Internet Public Library (IPL) and the Librarians' Internet Index (LII) websites. The site is hosted by Drexel University's College of Information Science & Technology, and a consortium of colleges and universities with programs in information science are involved in developing and maintaining the ipl2.
The EFF group is very serious about their mission: "From the Internet to the iPod, technologies are transforming our society and empowering us as speakers, citizens, creators, and consumers. When our freedoms in the networked world come under attack, the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) is the first line of defense. EFF broke new ground when it was founded in 1990 — well before the Internet was on most people's radar — and continues to confront cutting-edge issues defending free speech, privacy, innovation, and consumer rights today. From the beginning, EFF has championed the public interest in every critical battle affecting digital rights."
Though controversial, reportedly the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an international community where Member organizations, a full-time staff, and the public work together to develop Web standards. Led by Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee and CEO Jeffrey Jaffe, W3C's mission is to lead the Web to its full potential. Despite some criticisms, W3C is the major force that guides the direction of the technology of the Internet.
